ok its a long shot since im pretty sure im getting rays and cichla for a 500g i will be picking up within the month, but how would a 8x4x2 tank be with a lot of piranha? think they would still be skittish in a shoal of 20 or so? what would even be a good number for a tank this size? i have 4 in a 100g right now, but they are just starting to stop being skittish and i dont want another tank full of fish i cant really watch. what do you guys think?

I would do 100 cariba in there. but thats just me

100 cariba and then end up with 20 in the end? at like 100 bucks a piece that would be expensive... realistically how many would be good?

F-in go 4 it!!!! i got 13 right now that i just picked up last friday, so i just may have 2 keep in touch wit u!!!!

you won't end up with just 20. probably end up with 80 if there's any serious loss. I have lost only 1 or 2 cariba due to aggression amount them, that's like 10+ pygo in a 180g. if you are loosing a lot of fish something must be wrong.

when cariba season comes, you'll be able to get them at around $20 each, if you get that many I'm sure you can request for more discount. more realistically speaking probably getting 50 would be good. grow them out a bit in smaller tank then move them into the 500g.

well i think it all depends on the fish i have three different tanks with piranhas in them and they all have different attitudes, some more social than others. but i would say 15 to 20 red belly's would be awesome.

i had 4 cariba n my 125 an i added 5 more too the group an they became less skittish an with the kind of room ur talking they mayb fearless.imho

an like jp said very little aggression.

i have 4 in a 100g tank and when they were like 3 inches in a 55g they would always attack eachother, but since the move into a 100g they dont mess with eachother. when is caribe season?

Cariba season is usually around summer, June/July. Shark Aquarium gets them once or twice every year so be sure to keep an eye on it or email G when the time is near, he might be able to let you know when he will have them.
