Hi i have been thinking of making a rimless 50cm acrylic cube tank but was just wonderign if any1 has had any experience making rimless acrylic tanks?

I have used rivermud's calculator for glass and acrylic and it suggests 13mm acrylic for rimless and 8mm for braced (at least that is my understanding of how the calculator works). i just inputted 19.685 into the first 3 sections and got that result.

I have read that it "fudges" the results to be a little more safe but was wondering if i could use 12mm (half inch) acrylic for this project.

thanks in advance

A 20" cube rimless with acrylic can be done but you would want to use 1"+ to prevent bowing. With a eurobrace you could use 1/2" or even 3/8" with a slight deflection.

Nick, for a 14" cube you could go rimless with 1/2" material or as thin as 1/4" with a eurobrace.
