my friend just got a 50g and he has 2 jack dempesys and hes tryin to breed them and he wants tank mates for them there is 2 gold fish that he has in there that are in there temperarily because he was cycling the tank.

the only thing he could really add would be some kind of schooling fish like tiger barbs or some kind of tetra, i wouldnt add another cichlid to that tank though the pair will want the whole thing when grown

yeah he could put a senegal or 2 in there but nothing that gets bigger than they do, and if getting 2 then his filtration needs to be really good, sens are good bichir though because they are really active and dont just lay at the bottom of the tank i have 3 in my 120g and they are all over the place all the time :)

yeah pleco would most likely eat eggs if dempseys arent diligent enough, but also plecos get HUGE depending on the type you get the typical pleco at most lfs will get really big and they help with algae when they are little but when they get bigger they are pretty much just poop machines so dont help keep tank clean at all except to maybe eat algae from driftwood or something i would def go for bichirs and not pleco (they aren't as messy and are more fun to watch as well)

he wants to kno if a red tail black shark, roseline shark, or any kind of small catfish thanks for the help so far

yeah that would be fine, pretty much anything thats not a cichlid and stays fairly small but not small enough to be food should be fine (like 6in or smaller) so like red tail shark: yes, Bala shark: NO, n yeah np thats what the forums are for :)

you could probably do 3 and be fine (im not sure if these guys are schooling or not so you would have to research that first) GOOD LUCK
