After lookin at pics of diff pikes i am considering gettin some what type can i put in a tank that size and how many???

You wanting big and bad? You might be able to get away with a couple of pairs, depending on the tank dimensions...but chances are it might not work. I've known someone who had a pair of lents. in a 700 gal tank ....used to be marms and lents....but the lents. went psycho on the marms, so he had to move them. It would all depend on the species. I dont think that Ive ever seen a 700g in person. Id go for a pair of cincta, a ton of silver d's, a Payara or paraya or however its spelled, some big old flagtail prochilodus, and some sort of oddball plecos.
are ya looking to breed or just want some fish???
if breeding, you could get 1 or 2 groups (group = 5+) and let them grow hopefully getting a pr. of course you'd need extra tanks or sell the rest once the prs formed.
if ya just want some fish then ya get 2-3, might be able to get 3 different ones. So far my 125 is cool so a 500 should be cooler for 3 different pikes.
either way ya go, main thing is to have shelter. whether its pots, wood, plants or pipes. Unless you just cruel and enjoy chase scenes then leave it bare...
Im in a try breeding mood (at the wrong time LOL), so thats where I'd go with a 500.
