Well, i might be able to get a 55 and 40L for $90, and i was wondering first off if this is a good deal?

secondly how should i stock them if i do go ahead with the deal?

i was thinking Green Severum, 3 pictus cats and a dwarf pleco in the 55, and idk at all about the 40 Long.

well it might be worth it only if the tank is relatively new and free of defects. new 55gallons usually cost between 100-130, for just the tank. if this is coming with filters and heaters, then maybe a good deal. the setup your thinking about sounds good, watch for the severums and make sure their about the same size. they can get a little picky with each other. pictus cats can get stressed easily and get ICH. basically an ich.

Only getting one green severum, as these are rather large fish and i think putting more then one in a 55 gallon tank would really limit their space, and yes i know pictus cats get ich...and they are scale-less so treatment is kinda hard. I was kinda wondering if the severum would mess with any of the pictus's though.

These are used tanks but I know both tanks are free of defects, and i can get them with an iron stand, but i'd rather just make a wooden one out of 2x4s and stuff pretty cheap.

still unsure of the 40L, was thinking bichir, but they all get way too big. I kinda want a predator in it.

lol. predators are always good lol. thats good that the tanks are free of defects, and 2 severums in a 55 would probably be okay, seems how they only get on average of 8". im not sure how accurate that is but either way is cool.

Well, my current project (10gallon) is now finished and looking good, so i really want to start into one of these larger tanks.

any idea of a bichir or other predator that would work out in a 40L?

I don't know the exact dimensions of a 40L but a smaller bichir like a senegal, palmas, or delhezi would work.....

It is a good deal on the tanks by the way, my 55 setup with just the hood, lights, heater, one filter, stand and tank cost me 300.......

what kind of combination would work out of the following: senegal, leaf fish, fire eel, spiny eel, african black knife

my senagl is in a 40gallon with my knifefish, fire eels get huge, spinyeels work, and leaf fish work(i might get one).

yes but what combination? senagl, spinyeel, leaf? or would the senagl eat the spinyeel? i'm thinkin knifefish or senagl, not both because they both get rather large
