Yes a 55 would work for a single female, but keep your tetras as dithers, or add some other dither fish.
Jds can be quite shy if alone, which usually translates into sitting at the mouth a cave hardly moving .
In nature JDs watch dithers to determine the threat danger, if dithers are dithering, they feel comfortable.

In nature they share habitat with fish like mollies, Gambusia, and Astyanax tetras.

The most common predators of JDs in nature are fish eating birds, so they are very aware of shadows, and hide at the first appearance of them, so the dithers are an early warning system.

I dont know how my friend does it, but he has a female jack with 5 full grown discus in a 55, and they live in harmony! Do you think they live peacefully because he grew them up together as juries from 2.5 inches?
