I have a 55gal on a metal stand that has be unleveled for a month +. I didn't realize how serious this can be untill I read some posts about tanks cracking and leaking. The water from the left side is 1 1/4 from the top and from the right side is 1 3/4 from the top. So about half an inch. How bad is this? How should I fix it? would it be best to get a new stand? Thee metal one is kind of sketchy.uploadfromtaptalk1334247885510.jpg

The leveling is not your biggest problem. The storys you have heard about tanks cracking and such is due to the fact that they are not on a flat surface that is causing the tank to bow or apply pressure in one area instead of spreading the weight throughout the tank. You should be fine

So looking at the picture the extra pressure on the right side won't cause any problems?

It may not be the stand, but may be the floor. Because my house is old, I have to shim under all my stands to level them, because none of my floors are remotely close to being level. That being said, your tank "may " be fine.

its probably fine ,I've had 3-4 "unlevel" tanks during the past few years with 0 problems

If it was me being unlevel would drive me insane safe or not. Since I keep aquariums for my enjoyment I would have to fix that asap in order to get the enjoyment I keep the tanks for.

Walmart has a really nice MDF stand for around 80-90 bucks. Ive had it for 6-7 years now. None of my floors are level, but with the large surface area on the bottom of the stand it is super easy for me to knock a few plastic roofing shims under one side to level it out and break them off at the edge so they cant be seen. voila level and I can sleep at night.

After my experiences with various premade metal stands Id never own another, Id make one if wood wasnt easier to deal with.

It just seemed sketchy. It seemed like every month I was under it retightening something. I even used loctite on all of the threads and somehow the thing would loosen. Finally got a wooden stand and havent messed with it for over 5 years. Great investment. Not to mention its easy to level out.

On a metal stand you can weld a nut on the bottom of the four legs and put adjustable feet on, but kind of a pain in the butt. Id rather just knock a shim under it and forget about it.
