have a 55 gal and its been set up for about 2 months, fish seem pretty happy.

right now ive a small silver aro, maybe 6 inchs, a clown knife(13 spots but with a bite out of tail) prob 8 inchs, and an irredescent shark. its a live plant setup for about 5 days now with about 25-30 pounds of wood pieces setup cave style

have alot of movement except for the shark. was thinking maybe it could handle 2 silver dollars, or should i not push it.

filtration includes ug with a whisper 100 powering it. aquaclear 70 power filter. and a sponge filter in the corner. had an additional power filter but thought i might have too much current so i took it out.

should i try the silver dollars or no?

no fish that is in that tank should be. arrows get over 3 feet long, and balas get 14 inches and prefer to school. either sell the fish or buy a 200 gallon tank.

the aro is going to a 200 when he is big enough to co exist with full size oscars, prob put the ck in the 120 if it will get along with discus. not concerned with what they will be full size, was really more of a now question but of coarse people want to jump in and say someone is wrong.

so true!
anyway if its just "for now thing" if ur filter can handle the bioload, and ur religious on ur water changes, a med size dollars or tinfoil barbs can give u the movement u want.

note to mfkers: this is just MY opinion. ;)

I'm going to beat a dead horse here and just reiterate what everyone else just said- A 55 is way to small for any of those fish, much less all of them.

Short term it should be ok, but they may nip the silvers fins. Filtration and water changes will need to be excessive. You might also consider removing the wood for a larger volume of water.

I hate to say it, but the aro will be much too big for the 55 by the time it's big enough to go into established oscar territory. Be very careful when introducing them
