55 gal sump.

i have a spare 55 gallon tank and thinkin about makin it a sump just a quick question i have tons of scrubbies and tons of bio balls but i was wondering if i mix them both what should i put on the bottom the scrubbies or the bio balls

I don't think it matters which is on top. I don't think it would matter if you mixed them from bottom to top.

You want to be able to remove physical waste... therefore it is important to have some easily cleanable media before the scubbies / bioballs. If not physical waste will get into the 'bio media' further breaking down thus unnecessarily increasing the nitrates...

Since the only responsibility of 'bio media' is to provide surface areas for bacteria to grow on... it doesn't matter in the least which comes first or if they are mixed.

ok cause i was going to put the blue mat stuff down with the drip plate and than would flow down on everything. so that works out.
