So I searched the forum looking for rimless, and everyone major question was do you need the trim at the top. My question is do you need the trim on the bottom. I have a 2nd 55 i want to set up but the bottom is horribly destroyed. I was wondering if the surface that it sits on is completely smooth (MDF) could I use the tank without the bottom trim. THanks all.

you should be ok. just gotta make sure the seal on the edges are strong... if its an old tank, i would just remove and reseal the whole thing if youre going to go trimless
