Alright, I came across another 55 for a great deal and I had to buy it because I've been wanting to set up an african cichlid tank... They have one at my LFS that is absolutley amazing... I know theirs is ridiculiously over stocked, but it just looks great... After talking to some people I know in there, I'm going to start setting everything up tomorrow... I just had some questions first...
I've heard that they like coral and driftwood... Which one should I go with?
How many can I put in?
Are there any other things that I should know?
Thank you in advance?

I would stear clear of the driftwood. Some will say it take alot of wood to lower your ph but Ive had a mid sized stump completely negate the buffering capabilities of my crushed coral aragonite mix.Took out the stump and the ph buffered right back up to 8.2.

As for using coral crushed coral is often used for rift substrate but if youe meaning as deco thats another story.I had used some dead coral frags for deco but the other MFKers didnt appreciate their integration into my aquascaping endeavers.Needless to say I opted for a more "natural" look.

As for how many you can have that would depend greatly on the species planned to inhabit the tank.

As for anything else you need to know yes but it would help to narrow it down if we knew the planned stocklist.

Hmmm... I didn't know there was different kinds... All it says is African Cichlid... They are really bright in color... Bright yellow and blue and what not... My buddy that works at the TFS says he'll give me 8 of them... And they're all pretty small right now... About an inch - inch and a half... And as far as substrate, I just went out and got some pool filter sand...
