So i think i want to go with a couple red tailed baracudas. And i was wondering if someone has ever kept them. What kinds of terrain do they like and if there is anything that could go into the tank with them. Any info that you would have on the subject would be much appriciated.

dont really need a 75 I have actually kept them. I have one at full size and looks tiny in my 75g. You could put a max of 2 in a 55g. No terrain needed but I would do the fw sand with driftwood and mabey add some silver dollars.

They are pretty mellow with tank mates as long as they can't fit it in their mouths. Go with non silvery fish that wont be mistaken for a meal. Also avoid overly aggressive cichlids

So can you keep anything with them besides silver dollars or are they pretty solo fish

This is what they say on live aquaria's site, "A 70 gallon or larger aquarium that is well established is ideal for this species. Provide the Red Tail Barracuda with driftwood in order to maintain a neutral to slightly acidic pH and soft water. There should be plenty of open swimming areas. A vicious predator, the Red Tail Barracuda should only be housed with other more aggressive predacious fish of similar size. Ideally, it is best to not place this species with territorial species of Cichlids" .

That's a bunch of crap lol and they all don't reach 11 inch trust me they will sometimes stop at 9 inch which is what most seem to do. I have had mine 3 months and it hasn't grown 1 inch at 7 inchs. These guys will be fine in your 55g. And you will have to get some descent sized silver dollars and they do not mistake for prey usually they are pretty harmless mine won't even eat a goldfish :( kinda sucks but hopes this helps.
