im giving some thought to taking my 55 out of storage and starting a new tank. but.... im really not sure what to do with it. out of curiosity, if it was strictly a betta sorority how many females could i put in it without overcrowding?

oh ya, feel free to offer some other stocking suggestions, even breeding ideas. i do like polypterous, if that helps any.

With good filtration, I'd go around thirty five bettas. More if you have an army of caves for them to claim. Use lots of plants and such for territorial landmarks. I've never tried more than six myself, so I don't know what happens above that...

I would go for wild female Bettas. You can get some cool Imbelis, all the local fish stores carry crap stock for Betta Splendens. Are you looking to breed the Bettas? If so I know where you can get some great breeding stock, but they would obviously need ideally a more secluded environment with blackwater conditions and some top plants. You can find great info on the IBC website www.ibcbettas.org There are tons of great member sites, heck you should join my MFK social group! I want to make it a chapter but I need five official IBC members to do so.

id love to breed them but i know i really dont have the time right now. itll have to be one of those projects i save for later (im planning on being in this hobby a long time :) ).

35+, nice! that will have to be something i try sometime. id love to see what that looks like, and observe the social order of all of them. now iv got to decide between that and a bichir.

I don't know much about bettas. But, if you wanna go the poly route you could get 2 senegals. Then some mid-surface swimmers.

Bettas are better =P

I think they are ok. My sister just got a crowntail from her boyfriend. I recommended the shop and the fish. Overall he is pretty cool. I give him 100% fresh water daily for his bowl. (From one of my tanks)
