Hello. I bought two small red tiger oscars from petsmart back in september of 2011. They have been happily living in a 55 gallon tank ever since. The algae is starting to get uncontrollable and I would like to get some kind of algae eater. This is where I need your help. What will comfortably and safely live with my two oscars? I've heard that plecos get along with oscars but I would like to get this confirmed first. Thanks in advance

A Bristlenose only grows to about six inches long a standard Pleco grows much larger in size. You will need a bigger tank if you plan on keeping Oscars for life.

you can fight the algae by keeping lights on only for a few hours a day, say only when you are around for a while, and also by doing bigger water changes. If you have two oscars then chances are theyre making a big mess, you may have a lot of fish waste in the substrate that needs to be siphoned out. a 50% weekly water change is okay too.
