Hey all! about 2 months ago I got back into fish keeping having my 55 gallon setup for about 8 years now with always something in it.even with no filtration and 50% water I managed to have a catfish survive 1.5 years. (yeah I know I'm a terrible person 
) Here is when I first resetup the tank
Stock was as follows!
2x RBP
1x GT
1x JD
2x Clown Pleco
1x Synd catfish (want to know exactly what he is)
1x firemouth
Since then I have done the following
Returned the RBP
The firemouth died from getting beat on
2x clown pleco's died from getting beat on
I also rescaped a bit
Changed substrate to sand,added a fluval 305 and now stock is as follows
Same GT
Same JD
2x BNP
2x Pink convicts
Catfish
Than My convicts destroyed some of the scaping and laid eggs!!!
I also started up a second tank,a 10gallon for media and the fry

Now the questions
I want my water to be more clear, I was thinking about adding a emperor 400 and also adding purigen to my tetra 60. Now (if I can find it) I have an ehiem pump that I used for my water cooling of my computer and was thinking of making a DIY sump or something out of a Rubbermaid container. Which would be best?
