55 gallon reef question about water flow

I am setting up a 55 gal reef and was wondering about how many powerheads i should get and where to place them. all info appreciated.

Get a couple of Seio powerheads in the mid range and point them towards the middle front, that should do.

You'll want the tank to turn ober at least 15 x per hour for a reef tank. I would also encourage you to make sure that their is a chaotic water flow. You can test that very simply be adding a few drops of milk to the water and turning on your power heads.

Thanks so get like three to four powerheads and point it to the front. I will use that advice

MrP, it really depends on the powerhead. You're looking for turnover rate and the prevention of dead spots (between rocks for instance). Although Max and I often agree I actually feel a higher turnover of 25x is closer to what you want minimum. I achieve that in my own 55g with 2 Koralia #3s. Even with the rockwork in there it gets great flow all around.
