Hello, My son and I are new to this forum, been reading through some of your posts and had to join. We have recently started a South American cichlid tank. We went overboard I know. LOl. We have a mixed tank of some small guys and gals a pair of convicts,a pair of g.t.'s and a pair of firemouths. The tank is filled out with a managuese, red devil, emerald sevrum(according to the petsmart), and finally a blood parrot. I KNOW they are all doomed to outgrow the tank, but we are looking already for a larger tank, something in the 150 to 250 range. I am not new to fishkeeping, have had fish for 30 years. Ive raised everything from guppies to snakeheads and still Pirahana. Just happy to see there are still people out there keeping wicked fish. My tanks currently. 72 gallon salt(community), 55 gal S.A. cichlid, 29 gal Pirahana grow out tank, 100 gal salt tank, 10 gal feeder tank, 125 gallon Pirahana tank(caribe). Anyways, just thought I would get it all out there and say hello. Hello.

First and foremost welcome to Monster Fish Keepers.

Like you said, a larger tank will be necessary in the future. Probabl atleast a 200 gallon; larger is greater to reduce chances of aggression.

Nice stock of fish you have there. Been wanting to set up a piranha tank as well.

Haha. Yeah the internet is a weird new world for sure. I am a carpenter by trade and just read the thread on the diy 600 gallon tank and I think I need to make a run to the lumber store. I am thinking maybe a bit larger, but we will see where the budget lands. I have had the pirahanas for years now. I have had a vareity of Cichlids off and on. My interest started to wiver for a few years, always had fish, just not the desire to always take the best care of them. Thanks god for kids and new waves of energy.

Hi, and welcome! well its fun growing them out, keep an eye on the managuense and red devil you dont want them doing any unwanted weeding out for you.LOL

I am also a piranha owner. You should check out the Piranha Forum here. I'm sure everyone would love your input.

welcome and nice to know there are other old fools on here i start with cichlids at the age of 12 that was 18 years my how time flys. now my 2 year old doughter can identify more cichlids then most pet store employees.
