I'm looking to get rid of my current freshwater 55 gallon tank set-up. The reason being that, after a continuous and frustrating struggle with yeast contamination from a DIY CO2 injector, I've decided to simply give up and start over. I have cleaned the tank and all of its components with bleach, but there is still a reasonable possibility that the fungus problem will return (I tried this before and the yeast came back) so this is basically buy at your own risk. I should say that I had the yeast problem in the tank for 4 months and it never posed any health problems for the fish (the fungus grew on the tank and decor, never on them), and I'm sure it has to be possible to get rid of the stuff somehow, but I had a lot of concerns as far as anything that might also be toxic to the fish, so I never tried anything other than bleach and/or boiling water. Anyway, I just wanted to make sure that if anyone is interested, they know what they might be getting into before they pick it up.
So here's a breakdown of the stuff I'm getting rid of. I'd prefer to sell it off as a set-up because it's easier, but if you're interested in just one or two things, I might let them go separately. The set-up is fairly new (approx. 6 months old for the equipment, around a year for the tank and 3 years or so for the stand.)
55 gallon All-glass tank
2 Glass Versa-tops
Walnut stained wood stand
Aquaclear 70 hang-on filter (with a new set of inserts still in boxes)
Marineland Visi-therm deluxe 200 watt heater
Carbo Plus CO2 generator (needs a new carbon block)
Lots of various accessories, including gravel syphon, filter cleaning brushes, medications (all fairly new), water testing supplies, 3 5-gallon paint buckets, water additives, and various fish foods (carnivore appropriate).
The price for everything is $50.00, or BRO for individual items.
I also am probably not going to get a new set up very soon, so I'm probably looking to re-home my two polypterus as well. 4.5-5" Ornate and 2" Albino (Cuvier) Senegalus. I'll let the ornate go for $25 and the Senegal go for $5, but again, it's buy-at-your-own-risk as far as whether or not they might transfer the yeast problem into a new tank.
Oh, and I have a 20 gallon tank with versa-top and an AC mini filter and Marineland visi-therm 50 watt heater I may get rid of as well, for free with the rest if you want them.
Anyway, let me know if anyone is interested in anything.
