Hello. I have decided to make my tank a silverdollar tank. I am currently rehoming the fish that are in and will only leave the 3 silverdollars, and rapheal cat. The 3 silverdollars are currently 2.5-3'' right now. I was wondering if I can add a few more to this tank. They will be about 3.5-5''. I have over filteration in the tank. So that would be 5 silverdollars. Then I plan on adding 3 angelfish down the road. Think this would be a good tank?? I will eventually upgrade to a 75 gallon.

I have no clue about silver dollars, but sounds like a cool idea, however you will need more than just 3 angelfish.

Are you sure I need more than 3 angels?? I might get 3 free angels that are about 5''.

Ok then maybe I'll get the three and buy one.

That would be better, so they can setup a pecking order, with just 3 the other two will constantly harass the one lowest on the pole to death.

Is that 55 Gal US? If so I would upgrade to 75 gal US. I have around about 75Gal US and it is the bare minimum to support the fish I have (currently 9 silver dollars - 7 adult, 2 juvies). At that they would ideally be in a bigger tank of 150 gal as they do get very nervous at times. I would recommend lowering the brightness of any lights and making sure there is plenty of plants. I have recently put in some fake plants at the top of the water and that has calmed things down. Check out my thread in my sig for pics.

Yes the 55 is U.S. gallons. I am going to try to upgrade to a 75 for my birthday! I have no light in the tank, and have about 4 fake plants in the tank. I feed lettuce for color, veggie flakes, and do water changes every other day or sometimes 3-4x times a week to increase growth rate.
