Hi, I currently have one 3" Jack Dempsey, one 4" blood parrot, and one 3" green terror in a 4 ft. 55 gallon tank. I'm not looking to upgrade this tank anytime soon due to room constraints, so I was wondering if these fish will be OK in here long term...I have a Penguin Biowheel 350 (350 GPH) and due weekly 25% water changes. I was also looking to add possibly a few smaller dither fish to "fill out" the look of the tank and reduce any aggression, if it arises. So far all of the fish are getting along fine. Is this tank overstocked? Also, any recommendations for smaller dither fish?

OK...I was pretty much expecting that response...if I was to trade the green terror for something smaller, such as a convict or firemouth, would that work?? With that combo, (JD, BP, and convict), would maybe a few tiger barbs or danios work also?

I have a 55g my self and from what i know those fish will be hard those sort of fish want there own space correct if i am wrong
but anyway what is your tank demisions is it long or high??? but yer i got a 55G with one fish my tiger oscar only got him yesterday but yer just wait to see what other people think.

You'd probably be overstocked or very close to it with just a JD and a Firemouth. Personally I wouldn't do it.

a jd and a firemouth would by no means make your 55 overstocked. But it is not a good idea to put a bunch of cichlids in a 55.

You can get a pair of EBJD. (female dempsey with ebjd gene, male ebjd). To fill in the space you can add some large giant danios. (I mean large, or they'll just be food) Put in some large rocks and a big piece of driftwood and you'll have a sweet tank! You'll also make some money of ebjd fry.
