55 gallon stocking

Hey everyone i typically keep central and south american cichlids but decided to try my hands at africans. I have a fifty five that i was planning on running two fourty gallon sponge filters with a aquaclear or fluval canister. I was wondering which lake to go with to best suit my tank/filtration(tanganyika, malawi, or victorians)?? Also i was not sure on stocking numbers or possible combinations? I have been looking into it and one fish i do really like are demonsi cichlids, but i also like brichardi and calvus, as well as really liking the xystichromis sp. kyoga flameback. I am just looking for some direction and stocking idea from everyone beings i am not super familiar with these guys. Thanks in advance.

55G is on small side a dwarf Mbuna would be good Dems are little devils try and find Saulosi very nice.

Hey thanks for the reply man Def liking the saulosi! Would a species tank work out alright with say 2 males and 8 females??

Definitely mbunas. I have a 55 mbuna tank with 14 mbunas and 7 I just bought in quarantine. It’s really nice, especially if you get a nice variety.
