OK, looking for suggestions for a 55gal aquarium. (My recent plan to put a reptile in it didn't go through)

Here's what I have to go by...
No live plants/special light requirements, No saltwater (brackish ok), Nothing that will get too big for this tank, Nothing that requires really picky water (ex: discus, or other fish that are extremely succeptable to even the slightest drop in water quality) No coldwater fish as this tank is going in my reptile room which has an ambient room temp of 80f.

Now beyond that, anything goes. I'd particularly be interested in strange/ freeky/ scary/ predatory types of fish. All of your suggestions are welcome.

Since you're into herps, why not look into Bichirs?

My favorite, the Polypterus delhezi looks like a dragon. Search MFK for articles and pics.

Here's a good overview

they get to big for 55's, the only bichir that really could supposiddly mabey be kept in a 55 is Polypterus senegalus

the fact you want strange/ freeky/ scary/ predatory types of fish, but all you have is a 55, makes your choices allot slimmer,

many cichlids may not be freaky but i would do, a green terror, amazing colors, and there a fun cichlid.
