I am in need of a UGF for my 55g Aro tank. Im just using a hang on right now (came with the tank) and it seems to be working fine. Just sucks having to buy filters every week cause the blood worms seem to get stuck in there pretty fast. If you guys have anything let me know. Im located in north Denver (I-25 and 84th ave)

Thanks to everyone!

PS. Any local Jardinis? I would love to see a decent size one in real life. I have seen pictures but nothing with my own 2 eyes.

Welcome to MFK. Always good to see another Coloradian. Pwmin has a 12-13" jar, not sure of anyone else that has one here. Paul is not to far from you either.

Sorry don't have an UG filter for a 55g I do have a plate for a 20g though, your more then welcome to it. It would be half of a 55g so maybe you could find another.

I think Sherman tank company on 84th and sheridan has some UGFs and you might also want to check out 3F Pets on Sheridan and Mississippi.

BTW, there are so many mixed reviews on UGF's, they are pretty economical though. I use sponge filters for some of my tanks which are actually less expensive and carry a good amount of beneficial bacteria for 55g tanks.

Ill be honest, I'm a total newb when it comes to fish tanks. I just got in the hobby in the end of may and really came attached.

I started of buying a 55g tank complete setup from petsmart just for a community tank(bala sharks and stuff like that)

And then I found out what a Arowana is. I found a place locally that had some silvers in stock. So I went to go buy one. I started looking around the shop and then I saw the Jardini. Didnt think twice, pulled out the money and went home.

Got home, did some research and found out that this fish turns out to be a insane river monster that can get stupid big. So here I am with a 55g tank in search of another one big enough to house him.

So, all I have right now is the hang on filter that I have to replace cartridges every week.

I have looked at canister filters and what not but you have to replace the carbon and everything in those too. A under gravel should hold me over till I get a bigger tank.

He started to get some fin rot and I had to find out what causes it. Poor water quality and stress. I dont think he could be to stressed out cause he is the only fish in there... Well... He is the only thing in there. No plants, ornimants.. just moon sand...

I dont think im doing to bad considering that a lot of experienced fish owners wont even take the plunge and try to take care of one...

The jardini I assume? IDK I'm sure Paul(pwmin) has posted some pics, you would have to search his threads.

If you have sand, then you want to stay away from the UG filter.
