for how long will they be in there? Firemouth definitely. Oscar not for life. It will have problems turning. jds and gts can but there will be major aggression as they get older, ( these are the 2 meanest fish ive ever kept). Hope this helped!
A 55 is too small for all four of those cichlids. Either the O, JD, or GT could get along fine in a 55 for a while. Maybe even two of these three would be okay together. The Firemouth could live its life in a 55 with several tankmates. I just wouldn't put all four in that size tank.
you can keep juvies this way, but it won't work long-term, no.
the Oscar and GT would do best in a 75G or larger, but I do believe you could keep the JD and the Firemouth in there for life . . .
the think about the 55G is that is is only 12" wide (on the inside), which is not a lot of room for a full size Oscar or GT, and would be tight for a large JD . . . the 55G is really a best bet for fish that stay under 8"
