55 gl good to set planted tank?

I have a 55gl tank sitting on the garage. I been wondering if it will be good to set a planted tank in it, been doing my research online but you guys r the best. I need your advice..I will go for the not to expensive choices, but I'll sacrifice some green leafs if I need to because is one of my christmas presents...Merry Christmas MFK!

jajaja yes it does, Just need some advice on lighting, heat (I live in a tropical place, not sure if a thermostat is needed) and filtration since is kind of a big one..Gracias!
