I am seriously considering setting up a new 55g. The fish that already ARE going to go in there are: 1 juve T. Sev, 1 juve Curviceps, 1 5" P. senegalus, 1 5" pleco.

I was definitely going to get a juve Golden Sev. and was considering other smaller more docile cichlids and such. i was thinking some firemouths, convicts (maybe), clown loaches, etc....

Or i really wanted an african tank so if you think that my sev and curvi would do ok in one.

Or a SAP. i want one but what'll go with it

Your Sev. and Curvicep like soft acid water, while Rift Lake Africans like hard alkaline water, so most are going to say that isn't going to work.

If i was you i'd get a pair of gold sevs, a pair of curviceps and a pair of FM's along with some loaches and tiger barbs.

That would look nice.

What is a SAP?

South American Puffer... and thanks i really like your idea. My thought that im leaning towards is small schools of smaller nicer SA/CA cichlids. do you think cons would work?

What species is your pleco?

You might want to reconsider the clown loaches. They won't be accommodated by your 55g in the long run. Look for yoyo loaches or zebra loaches which are better substitutes. Make sure though your bichir will be unable to swallow them although yoyos are fast growers so they may not be a problem at all.

No convicts in your tank. All it takes to make them spawn is add water and eventually harass your other fish to death in their attempts to defend their fry and territory.

Can't see why you can't have firemouths provided they don't spawn in your tank.

No, they won't be okay in there. Different water requirements, diet and temperament must be considered.

Most puffers are best kept by themselves.;)

:iagree: The only issue with tiger barbs is they will harass the firemouths and severums by ripping their fins. Severums tend to be rather mild-mannered.
