Why would you need to duct tape it at all? If it leaks then its just a slight crack in the tank or the silicone. Nothing that will not keep a reptile or any other exotic. Unless you are keeping ants. Then you might consider duct tape.

It could be done. LOL Be kinda cool to have a 55 gal vivarium with ants and some sort of exotic.
