55g help!!!!

I was doing a water change on my 55 today and I saw this How important is the center brace on a 55? Is this a sign of impending doom for my 14 year old tank.

you can buy that top piece for about 30 dollars.. and its not hard to install.. its harder to get the old one off..check around if you cant find one then house of tropics in cincinnati ohio could ship you one...http://www.houseoftropicals.com/ thats the site... but ask around at your lfs and see if you can find one close..

thats not good at all!!! Ok the center brace is what keeps the tank from bowing and snapping in half when it is full with water... i would suggest drain some water

that piece is a brace from keeping the corners from splitting u can either replace the middle or get a whole new top trim that is probably ur best bet

Pretty good milage on that tank, looks like time to trade in on a new one.
