I have recently gotten a 55G tank. I kow I cant have any true monser fish in it but I was wondering what I could have? MAybe some type of baby monster fish, Any ideas?

if you were to use it as a grow out, you could get a real monster and even if you don't use it as a grow out, but rather, as a permanent tank, there are a few species that you can get. a senegal bichir or even a peacock eel. just consider their maximum size.

Gulper cats look pretty cool! I dont realy want any kind of eal though.

there's also plenty of cichlids that can live in a tank that size for life, and have endearing qualities in personality, aggression etc.

You could get a grammode, they're pretty shy till they hit 4".

a grow out tank is one that you buy for larger fish, while they are young. the intent is that they will only be in that tank almost until they outgrow it and then you will place them in a larger tank, usually one that they can live in for the remainder of their adult lives. a 55 gallon is a great growout for many baby monsters.
