Hi Guys,

as most of you know I have been cycling my 55 gal..with Aquacycle, a few Zebra Danio's and 2 Guppies.

I will be honest, I recently lost my job a month ago...and a MASTER test kit costs $45 in Australia, so I could not really get one.

So far:

1. My fish are eating properly, swimming perfectly, no color loss...no blue or red gills. (I have read about the symptoms that are visible if water conditions are not right)

2. My female GUPPY had a RASH on her head at the pet shop, but after I put her in my tank (3 days now), her rash has completely gone... anyone know what might have caused this?

Thanks guys!

Most fish places here in the US will test water you bring into the store. I can't imagine they wouldn't down under, but then again you guys have mutant crocs and kangaroos everywhere, so said trip to the store could prove dangerous. ;)

Especially if you are buying livestock from the store, they should test your water for free.
Sucks that it had a "rash" from the LFS, if it can be helped, make sure you check the fish before you buy because with the stress of a new tank that could have turned into something else.

Yes im planning on taking water to the store to get it tested, but it seems my fish are doing very well, the rash has completely gone like i said...

Not sure what would have caused it, but do not buy a fish if it showing signs of having disease, putting disease in your tank is bad not matter what, but doing it while cycling a tank seems even worse. Not much you can do now, just for future reference.

^^ Thanks :) hopefully it wasn't anything serious..

I have know idea what would cause that but sorry to hear you lost your job. Its a tough world today and i hope you find a job soon. I think you will be fine without a test kit i would just keep doing water changes for a month and don't touch the filter. If i could i would send you a test kit. atleast you have a tank set up to sit back and relax to :)

Thanks dude, your words mean a lot.. i really hope i get a job quick... being an University student I can only give part time hours, where most firms want full time...

But yeah lets hope it goes well for me soon.... but since im goin for a hair cut today, there is a lfs near by, i might just take some water to get it tested :)
