Well, I never would keep anything that grows over 10'' to start. 4' doesn't leave a lot of room for teritorial cichlids, and the bigger they are, then the more space they need. For example a texas would need they whole tank to its self. It all depends on what you like, but just plan ahead and do your research.
I have an a. robertsoni, t. ellioti, HRP and 5 swordtails in my 55g.

i agree
