Big no on the dogface and yellow tang....both need upwards of 90,100g tanks to be happy...dogfaces get very messy and very big and any tang needs a lot of swimming room, or it will become highly stressed. Damsels are more trouble than their worth IMO...they get nasty with each other, very territorial...and they are PITA to get them back out of a 55 in you put them in.

would a physcdelic goby work with a few clowns, trigger, and maybe some others?

It isn't recommended to house multiple species of clowns together, but if you could find a pair of one species, that would definitely work. Mandarins (psychedelic goby) need a pretty established tank to go into with lots of copepods to munch on, or they will more than likely starve to death. You might be able to get away with dosing the tank with something like TriggerPods at first but it's always iffy. I wouldn't go with any other trigger than a Niger, and I would only add the Niger last as they get very territorial with anything else you add afterwards.

You could probably do a nice dwarf angel (I love Flame Angels), maybe some smaller wrasses (6lines are pretty), gobies, etc. Valentini puffers, basslets, cardinals, hawkfish, etc all would work. Just keep in mind in a smaller space like a 55g, the trigger may spell trouble...some are mild mannered, others kill anything it can get it's mouth on.

Go to the marine center look at there requirements one person will tell you you can one will tell you that you cant ive got a pretty lot of live rock and a protien skimmer and i do 20 percent water changes every two weeks my nitrates are zero. Its just an opinion there know setup rules to fish keeping.

The Marine Center is trying to sell their fish...they are going to list the smallest minimum size they can get away with, so more people will buy them.

Google "dogface puffer tank size"...every link except one lists 100g+ minimum. Yellow Tang it varies 50-100g minimum...but lots of people have trouble keeping them in smaller tanks, they get stressed and then become very susceptible to disease. There are better choices than a yellow tang to go in a 55.

I didn't realize that's what you actually kept in your tank, thought you were just recommending. I don't have a huge problem with your stock list, except for the dogface, but I know I've heard a lot of people complain about the issues their damsels cause after a while (and the difficulty they have capturing them).

Yeah that domino is huge and hes real aggressive wouldnt recomend it i was just giving an ideal of what i have in my tank as far as the goby and the trigger i dont know the trigger can be real aggresive i have the niger hes not as aggresive as say a clown or a undulate.

thanx for some ideas...i go by my own book of tankmates for fresh, and after i spend more time in salt i will in it aswell...my 55gal salt will have to wait alittle i went to get live rock and live sand...left with dats, juruense cat, and jardini arowanas...
