im seting up a 55 gal. and for stocking i was thinking about
1 Firemouth
2 jewels
1 honguin Red point
and some odesa barbs
would this set up work, there will be lots of drift wood and rocks
and im on the ground floor of my house but i do have a basement and i was wondering if i need to suport my floor board, the tank will run perpindickular to the floor boards. this is my only concern
the fillter will be a fluval 405
two 150W stealth heaters
and one dull T-5 lighting

you should be alright

and are there any other cichlids that could go into that tank

would a sand substrate be a bad idea

you should just get one 250w heater, you might want to get something like an ac70 for added bio/filtration just incase the canister fails or something, your floor boards should be fine and sand should be fine just sift it in a bucket first. you could try a green terror, sorry i was just looking through the gt picture thread and it really really made me want a silver saum haha.

i already have a 150W on another tank that will be shut down for this one, and the fillter is a good idea, but what about an aqua clear 200

that'd be ok but over filtering is never bad haha. i have an ac70 and a penguin 350 on a 29g :nilly:

dang thats is alot, but what about sand verses like razor back red substrate

depends on what you like most i guess, i personally really like sand with some gravel on it. can't beat it!

im just concerned about digging and and getting sucked up into my filter, and es of cleaning, and well discoloration, if none of toughs were a factor well then it would be white sand all the way
