This may seem like a dumb question bash me if yah want but just curious to what monster fish I could keep in a 55 gal until a year time from now that wont out grow it in that time planning on getting some big but nothing big enough to out grow a 150 gal just planning on keeping whatever I get in the 55 for now until I move and set up my 150gal which is currently sitting in storage cause it's to big for one person to carry up 3 flights of stairs lol any ideas on predatory fish would be helpful

Oscar for a year in a 55 is pushing it a bit In my opinion, just because they grow so fast. Many other cichlids would be OK for a year in a 55 until going to a 150 though. A few that come to mind would be N. Tetracanthus, A. Istlanum., Grammodes
What is your water like? Harder or softer + pH will tell you what fish should do well in your water.

Cubans and istlanums are both gorgeous and you could keep a breeding pair. Herichthys Carpintis 'escondido' are beautiful as well.
