where we have it for cheap
Hey all. I may be getting a 580 gallon this weekend it is acrylic and is drilled. I have no experience with sumps. I am getting tank only and will be looking into either getting a sump and stand later or having it sealed and run my FX5's/ Any suggestions on heating and best filter options. Thanks in advance.

Sump dont do canisters. 4 filter socks and submerged pond matrix media 8 liters. Heat with a controller to better manage the heat and 3-300 watt jager heaters will do just fine. If you can figure out an auto water changer I would highly recommend it. Do this and you will be set for anything

So i was at my LFS and I mentioned the 580 and was shown an Ultima II bead filter. Looked nice and was told they last a very long time not to mention I would get a decent deal on it. I want to make sure I have a decent set up for the final project. Anyone here run any ultima II's?

Everybody here runs ULTIMA II's and or Glass Filters on larger volume tanks. Just make sure you pair with appropriate pump keeping in mind head pressure. I have an 4000 and a 2000. You could run a sump/socks plus bead for efficient bio and mechanical.
