i have a 5 yr old red oscar thats blind in one eye, i am a bit worried about him. when i feed them,( also have a 4 yr old tiger), he seems to get the minimal amount of food unless i hand feed him, my tiger is highly aggressive at feeding time and doesnt miss much food. its a chore to keep the tiger at bay while i focus on the red. theres no visible damage to the eye its just "hollow" looking, almost like you can see through the pupil straight into his head.. anyone else encountered an issue with their oscar like this? just curious..

not on my O but on my tilapia . he/she is in the pond blind one sided but it had no troubles on getting food instead it's getting bigger. lol show me pics btw.

ohh, i thought u were saying tht ure oscar is blind because it only have one eye, cuz tht is wht in on my tilapia. it only have one eye on one side. lol how do u tell ure oscar is blind? looks okay to me.

well i say he is blind because if i drop food on that side of him he doesnt see it i can touch that eye with my finger and he doesnt even pull away, i just wondered what might have caused it? i would think if he had burned it on the heater it would show signs, or if my other oscar had damaged it i would think there would be signs.

sad for him. wouldnt they'll be bite marks or burnt marks if it was caused by either the heater or your other oscars? maybe there is some kind of parasite/bacteria in his eye. who knows. why dont u try posting a thread in the fish disease section. maybe some people know what u are in to now.

wouldnt know how a parasite was introduced into my eco system? never feed feeders, and havent added a new fish in years and do 50% water changes every week like clock work
