Finally, after 6.5 weeks she gobbled down some black worms. At least I think so. There was a large chunk of them by her and they were gone when I came back. Also, she had sifted through the sand so I'm assuming she was looking to dig them up. It will be an expensive diet for a while but as long as she's happy, I'm happy.

wow blackworms for a ray that size:nilly:

glad shes eating though, u find a tank yet?

Ok, so today I tossed a smelt next to her today and to my amazement she went right after it! My only concern, or rather confusion, is that she is shredding the smelt into pieces. I'm not sure if she is digesting any or just playing with it...lol. Is this normal? It's pretty messy but at least she's attempting to consume the foods that are placed into the tank at this point.

try chopping them into smaller pieces. build her appetite up slowly. congrats!!!!!

Thanks for the tip. That actually works great. She is able to digest it more easily and doesn't have to work as hard.

I have rays that will just shred smelt..... I really don't know if it's fun for them or they actually try to eat it.... Most eat it but some just play with it.... Seems that it's more the new ones that haven't really figured it out as a food source yet.

lemme know when you're ready to come get that 300.... It's finally up and running. Better hurry though, it looks so nice I will be getting attatched to it very quickly.

It's a female motoro. Yea, she just keeps shredding away at them so I'm not sure how much food she is actually digesting, if any. I wish she would eat the entire thing because it's quite messy and a pita to clean up after.
