So finally sveral weeks, and about a dozen LFS all over Tokyo later and i was able to get an AT, little guy just shy of an inch but lots of character compared to my baby indo's. Anyways, i was curious about the common name he was sold as. they labeled him a "6 banded nandus" kinda catchy name but havent heard it before. ive heard AT's called, 6 barred tiger, 4 barred tigers, many-barred tigers and such but never a 6 banded nandus. anyone else see this name?

no not currently, but ill take some. hes in my 50g growout with all my baby indos so it might be hard to single him out. I may end up pulling him out to get a good shot of him. do you think it may not be an AT? it has pretty much the telltale indicators as far as i know. if its not an AT i may have to go fish hunting all over tokyo again..lol.

here are some pix i just took, hes quick so it was hard to get a decent shot, he keeps harrasing my fei feng. its hard to tell in the pics but he has a gray tinge as opposed to the yellowish/beige that the baby indos have. hes also a bit longer..oh and meaner too. sorry for the bad pix.

in Hong Kong they refer to the different dats as 3 bar 5 bar and 7 bar. I don't know which is which. Must be an asian thing

Just an erroneous reference to the morphologically similar, but unrelated Nandus species from the Indian subcontinent.
