What would you all suggest for lighting on my 150 gallon. I'm not sure where to buy aquatic style 72 in lights or how much they might be but I'm guessing there not cheap. What would you suggest or how maybe diy ideas?
and I changed out the crappy pink Allglass bulbs to Hagen Powerglo's..
for a standard florescent fixture they are about as good as you can get. the polished aluminum inside housing makes a huge difference for brightness over the cheap white plastic insides of the lesser lightstrips..
Wow, that's depressing to see how expensive 72" light fixtures are. I suppose I could run 2 36" light fixtures but was hoping to only have to run one the lights into one outlet socket since I'm using so many already..haha. I dont really like the looks of the ones that sit up above the class. Not looking for anything special. Just your basic, plastic, single fluro fixture.
Yea, I might have to just go with the diy shop lights because a 72" light system is going to run me $600-$800! Which is more than I paid for the entire tank.
For fresh or salt? I REALLY loved my Current USA Orbit fixture. I used it on my reef tank and had alot of success. All my corals grew like they where on riods after switching from only have some VHO's on them.
Best of all is that I got it on Ebay NEW for like $220 and then sold it back on Ebay like 3 years later and MADE $100 on it =). I love the dual attinic and dual daylight compacts.
Oh yea for just fresh water with no plants I'd say get an All-Glass or Perfecto 3ft 2x.
