6" Gar with 12" BGK ???

Ok... I know there are tons of these posts, but I need an opinon.

So there's a guy who wants to $20 for 12" Black Ghost knife and I want to put him with my spotted gar who's 6" now. I was wondering what to do you guys think? I heard that of all the Knife fishes the BGK is the most docile.

this one is out of my league really but i will offer my own opinion.
the size difference may be 2 great. the bgk is twice the size of the gar and probably will try to harass him and take his food.
*note* i have no experience with and knife fish so this is just my GUESS and only that

Haha...well...I have no experience with Gars. I think it can possibly work. Gars can be thick at that size which will assure that it doesn't look like a worm to the BGK. Just keep an eye on them.

Lol... Thanks guys. I know I'm still debating on this one too. I want to add a knife as my last fish, but I know a small BGK will grow slower than the gar and possibly be food in a few weeks.

My gar grew 1" in one week.

$20 for a 12 inch BGK is a steal. At that size while not being overly aggressive have no problems holding their own at feeding time or over ownership of a hiding spot.

it will work.. you can trust bgk's with almost anything.. bgks are hardly aggressive feeders and it wont eat the gar.. I speak from experience btw 12" bgk with 4" peacock eel, 3" gar and so on..

it seems ok for now...but the gar will not stay 6" forever, and the BGK will not have as fast a growth rate as the gar...so when the gar surpasses or catches up with the BGK you could be looking at some nipping at least, and appreciable damage at most. just keep that issue in mind beyond the immediate size comparison--

Lol... Dam! I almost fell of my chair when I read that (I'm a betta guy).

Ok... Hopefully I can go pick it up on Sunday. I'll just keep an eat on it and make sure they are playing nice.
