I've only raised 5-6 jags in my time I'm more dovii/umbee, but from what experience I've had this looks female to me, it seems to have kept its dark thick spotted line down its lateral line which only females do males lose it as they get bigger , it also looks more female in colouration, both my males had a different colouration they had a very very slight purplish sheen even at smaller sizes, all my females had the yellowish colouration like the one in the pic, personally wise I always found females to be more out going then males, my females were also much more aggressive then my males, which I found very strange for a large cichlid species, this wasn't only at smaller sizes either I had a trio 1 male 2 females that were 14"-15" eachHi guys.
Am really after some opinions of gender on my 6" jag.

After looking again I'm unsure lol could be male could be female, either way you will know for sure when he/her grows another 2"-3", sorry I'm rubbish at sexing jagsI am leaning towards male mainly due to its personality. Never kept jags before but this fella seems to not be scared of anything and is out in open water waiting/hunting for food most of the day. The rest of my fish are between 8-12" which include a carpintis, Fenestratum, black belt, banded leporinus, jack dempsey etc. and it has no fear what so ever of these guys.
Thanks. I can see when it comes over to the front if the tank it has a triangle shaped protrusion infront of the anal fin. Most of my larger male fish have the same thing. Is that enough to confirm or do i need to take him out if the tank?Vent the fish. Pretty easy to figure it out for sure at that size.
