Bad news for me.... I was on vacation last July and I left my father in charge of my 3 tanks, telling him not to forget to feed the fish specially the piranhas....:duh:

When I came back from vacation, the 1st thing I did is to check my tanks. The arowana is doing ok even thou the tank has a little growth of algae. When I came to check out my Piranha tank, Ive notice that theres something missing. I counted if there were still six of them and shocking to know that there was only 5 left. I like counted 3x before I came running and shouting down the stairs and saying "PA BAKIT LIMA NALANG YUNG PIRANHA KO?" in english "PA why are there only 5 piranha's left?" :irked:
My father forgot to feed the P's for like 3 days and they started to prey on the smallest P in the group.:(
Well cant be mad at my father, it was my fault also because I know he cannot be trusted upon wathing over my fish.

well lesson learned there is to not let anyone takecare of your fish if he doesnt have the know how or the time to takecare of it for you.
Im just sad because Id spent lots of time money and attention to them.

yikes..sorry to hear that bro. maybe you could leave a few feeders next time you take an extended vacation. (that of course, is the only exception to my no-feeders rule)

Sorry to hear that. About 12 years ago, I lost my first breeding pair of natts because of leaving them in my Dads care. Not blaming my Dad at all this was entirely my fault. I set up the tank at my Dad's for a couple of weeks while moving. I checked on them every few days and threw a couple feeders in. A feeder got caught on the filter intake, basically plugging up the filter and killing the fish after a few days. It doesn't take long for something bad to happen when keeping piranha, or any fish really. Live and learn. Look on the bright side at least the one you lost will help the others grow bigger!
