6 Year old Goldfish Died.

Hi.

Since I was reading the poll about power outs I thought I should share this. There was a two hour power cut and when the power came back it burned the pump. It caused me to loose my 6 year old comet goldfish. I am sadened.

Are you referring to the airpump? It's too quick to lose a fish like that. Did it gasp for air? What size is the tank and what tankmates are in it? What temperature is your tank? What filter do you run? Water parameters?

You need check valves.....They are cheap and worth it. Try unplugging it and disconnecting it from your tank (be careful to take the airline tubing out of the water, the water will siphon out of the tank)

I think the pump was bured and when I came home the fish didnot get air bubbles for more than 5 hours.
