just purchased a tank...60 gal and it has ugf with 2 aqua clear 301 power heads....the tank is acrylic so its hard enough to use a hob filter unless i do some cutting. thinking of a canister filter??? what's a good filter nowadays for this size of tank or any other suggestion; don't have ne thing in it just yet but more than likely it will be small central/south amer. cichlids.

Don't cut it for a hob. That would be a mistake. You can drill it for a wet/dry or canister. For a canister, both holes can be drilled through the bottom and hidden in the gravel or decor. If the back of the tank is not clear, then drilling the back along the water's edge will be safer.

Put a Rena XP3 or a Marineland C-360 on there. You will be very happy with that filtration combined with your UGF and two powerheads.

a fluval 405 is good. But whats your stock?

Get an eheim classic for it (2215 or bigger). They don't have a ton of flow but that is all well handled by your power heads. Id recommend the 2215 its worked wonders on my 55
