I have a 150g with a couple of very low maintenance plants. My goal here isnt to grow plants but to sustain them and have them look nice and grow over time.

I have the light that came with the tank which I am assuming are just plain lights. I do want something that might be a little brighter though. I am assuming a T5 light would be best but I am not sure. Anyone have suggestions?

A T5 set up is the best yes. But if your looking to maintain i have a 20 heavily planted tank that im running the standard hood light on. Now are you looking buy or build?

Thats my planted! :) post a pic of yours!!!

And the white looking box is actually just a window reflecting! Ha

well I was in the same boat, misses wanted a nice tank with plants etc but refused to buy C02 liquid C02 a nice light etc so we used a normal T8 32 W or something low light not even a special bulb and I always walk past felling very amazed and jealous it worked so well lol.

thats after 8 months the roots are just as good as my planted tank with a T5HO twin light, your tank does look a bit taller then this one but so Its hard to say, Lighting is dependent by the distance from the light to the top of the gravel which gives the PAR reading.
