My 600 (8x4x2.5) will be here in a few weeks so far my stock will be

RAYS
1 marble motoro female 19 inches
1 marble motoro male 14 inches
1 hystrix female 13 inches
1 BD hybrid male 9 inches
1 orb female 8 inches

Silver dollars
6...5-6.5 inch wide bars
9....4 inch tigers

Characins
3....9 inch tats
1....9 inch vatf

1....13 inch silver arowana

I have all of these fish in 3 seperate tanks at the moment

Any thoughts or opinions?......I'm afraid the big rays might get a hold of the 4 inch tiger silver dollars.....I might add 6 tinfoil barbs instead ?

I'd personally be afraid of the bigger male Ray going after the smaller rays . Spec the female. I recently tried to add a smaller female tommy big tank and the male went after her immediately

I put my new 8in female with my 13in male and 15im female and the male beat the **** out of the new female. Was bummed

It depends on the male....there have been many instances where mature males have been kept with females that aren't mature and they haven't bothered them

I personally don't think atf and aros should be kept together. Their requirements as far as the habitat are to different. My main concern is the vatf would really appreciate flow, it may help him look better and keep him from banging into the sides as much, you'd also wanna keep the tank bare to minimize this as well. Where as an aro, who's more of a calm swimmer, don't fare well with high flow, and are nice to watch swim through Dw or vines if you have it at the top of the tank. With flow they become less graceful and uncomfortable. I'm sure you don't want much decor due to the Rays as well. Tats and SD are fine imo,. I don't have experience nor read up to much on rays so can't comment there. I'd say move the aro on, maybe get another characin that can handle the flow?

There won't be any decor. ...I'm keeping it clean maybe a thin layer of sand on the bottom for the rays......as far as the arow and vatf go....my powerheads are currently located in the middle of the tank where the vatf likes to swim around....the arow stays up top with little to no flow and seems comfotable......in a 8x4 I can position the powerheads as I have now
