I was wondering what kind of plants I could do with a 600... something that's tall and some carpet plants. the 600 is actually a hot tub, but the cover will be fitted with LED's. Also I wanted to know, can I do a dutch style 600 without Co2 injection? (I'm guessing most likely not, but a question dosen't hurt...)

Thanks :D

Okay whoh...how are you going to see into this thing? Where are you going to put it? Details man. This sounds like the beginning of an awesome DIY! :D

Well I am definatly going to make a thread about the 600... when it's complete so I don't get people shouting at me to update!

The 600 is (was...) a hot tub in the hot tub room (being made into fish room). The 600 is for my fellow Clown Knife who will soon outgrow the 50 growout. I plan to start the plants in my 40 gallon, then move them to the 600. I was also considering if I should have a glass front for viewing, or just keep it as is. Any how, it's going to be a big plan!

Me too :D

Just a few more months to go before I get green light... I'm already searching for the best glass around here - will cost about 80 - 120 bucks. Then I'm already planning how to take off the wood frame and part of the tub for the glass.

Anyways, I have the cabinets and scrubbies for the filter. Just waiting on the fish!:grinno:

It sounds like this will make a nice pond. I would consider tropical water lilies and marginals and stuff like that that will make nice viewing from above. Swordplants could be nice as underwater plants. They will have plenty of room to grow up big in there.

+2 on that ^ and swords will look even better once they are above the water ;) Echinodorus grandiflorus is one of the tallest ones - also with that set up what I believe would look good is not necessarily aquarium plant only, but something like a bog plant would look cool too. Also, check out Thalia geniculata aka alligator flag =]

root tab those guys and put some clayish / iron rich gravel under the swords and lotus plants - they have never enough of it ;)

keep us posted on the project and GOOD LUCK!
