OK this has taken just about 2 years But totally worth every penny! including the tank the basement remodel cost about $11K 8K was int he basement waterproofing. But anyways here are pics of the project.

Shortly after moving in April of 2007
The Basement was a mess as you can see For whatever reason they had a water softener hooked up to the home with city water. The brine tank later became my sump on the 600.

The house is almost 80 years old and the basement walls are clay block. The problem with clay block is that the holes run horizontally so if you get a leak and the water from outside gets in it will run the entire length of that wall not just in that spot.

As you can see here the block was falling apart in some areas.

One thing one of the previous owners did that did not help at all was drive 4" nails into the mortar and sometimes the block itself to hold up fir strips to nail the paneling into.

Some of the rotten paneling I pulled off the wall.

After I pulled off all the old paneling and fir strips it was apparent that a simple coat of Drylock was not going to do any good so we made the decision to have a company come in and waterproof the basement which included bringing in a jackhammer and digging up the perimeter of the inside floor and installing new foundation drains that led to a sump pump.

They also used Hydraulic cement and patched up the holes in the block

The new pipe and sump hole.

Now the new cement poured over the pipe after it was filled in with gravel for drainage.

My new walls! that I would eventually cover with 2x4 studs and drywall.

Drywall going up and all the wood trim brought down to stain talk about a mess! Also some pics to show what the rest of the ware looks like before and after the last coat of paint.

The ceiling was a MESS! so rather than replace the whole thing we patched up what we had to then skim coated everything and put a texture to it to hide all the imperfections and added 2 new light fixtures.

Now the good stuff! at least for me!

There are still some minor touch ups to do and finish putting in a new door between the two sides of the basement but for the most part its over and the basement has come a looong way since move in day and I think my wife is the happiest one of us all that its over so I can get to the rest of the house. Hope you enjoyed.

sweeeeeeet!!!!! It seems like for the most part considering how old the house it, that things went fairly smoothly for you. I'm glad.

Beautiful setup too!

WOAHHHHHHHHHHHHH now thats what I call effort, the tank looks real nice too i like the scape.

The room looks nice and comfy now... before i would be afraid if someone told me to go to the basement.
