Gunna be setting up a 60gal in replace of a Tv. Any suggestions on freshwater fish or creatures that can stay in 60 forever or long term grow out? Was gunna do loaches until they get too big (or I die first?). Maybe a bunch of shrimp and schooling fish??

What dimensions?
I would say a smaller cichlid pair, dithers, and a cat would be a fun display.
Exodons would also be a really fun, constantly active fish.

+1 on dimensions.
There are a lot of loaches that are good for a 227 liter sizewise, every non-clown loach in my signature is suitable and there are also a lot of suitable species not listed there (I can list them if you like).

49.37 in L x 13.12 in W x 28.25 in H. (55gal****************)

If you got time then list them bad boys!

Together with the yoyo, zebra, Burmese, striped/black kuhli, and dwarf chain loaches in my signature, there are golden zebra, emperor, sumo, hillstream, lizard, and ladder loaches as options. Loaches Online has mostly good information on them.

In a classic 55-60 (only difference is height), either of the ones I suggested would be my go to.
That or an African riverine setup with smaller bichirs, African riverine cichlids, and butterflyfish.

I agree with Deadeye. Having just set up a
West African tank, I would strongly recommend it. The Congo is a great area to do a biotype on. Ranges from tiny killifish to giant catfish.

If you like loaches then a tank that size can accommodate most of the commonly available ones with the exception of the clown loach.

What other sorts of fish do you like? I had an Asia themed 30 gallon with Kuhli loaches, a Betta, and a school of Rasboras that looked great. You could do similar in your tank, but given the extra size you would have more options. Barbs, other loaches, Gouramis, rainbow shark, red tailed shark, and flying fox off the top of my head if you wanted to stick with fish from the same continent.

Of course you can keep many of the smaller loaches with a variety of tank mates they don't all have to come from Asia. I kept Kuhli loaches in all my community tanks for years, and many of the other small loaches are suitable as well. It really just depends on what you want from your tank, or maybe what other species you have your eye on ?

As well as skunk and sun loaches.

Species I'd avoid for that size tank are clown (as mentioned), horseface, weather, tiger, red tail, and royal clown/imperial flower loaches.
