so my new apartment is upstairs and they said "no large fishtanks" so i set up a 65... it was originally listed as an 80, but turned out to be 65, oh well, it was cheap.

anyways, i got two Aqueon 55/75 HOB filters pushing 800GPH ( i believe).

the stocking so far is

-11 (was 12) common shiners from the bait shop (to cycle it)
- one 1.5" Jack Dempsey
- one 3" common Pleco

now, my question, can i also grow out a couple green sunfish with the JD, or are they too agressive? i wanted something different than an Oscar and always like the JD's.

i say try growing out at least 3, more like 4 or 5 with the JD. eventually the numbers would even out, via deaths or you getting rid of individuals, and the JD will survive. 1 ditch the common pleco idea. get a variety that dosent grow as large and produces less waste. 2 JD should be a few inches bigger than your sunfishes to start so they dont out compete him.

ok. so it should be alright. I'm going to try to catch 8 or so some small .5" sunnies/bluegill and sort them out when i can tell if they're sunnies or bluegills.
I'm not sure what to do with the pleco in regards to relocating it... but i'll see if i know anyone who wants it and get a clown pleco.
